Poznań's neighborhood
KÓRNIK - ROGALIN( 6 hours)
Kornik - a town located 20 km far from Poznan. Its most valued historical building is a mid-14th century castle, with additions made in 1552 and mid-18th century. Currently, it is a romantic English Neo-Gothic residence. The castle houses a museum with rich holdings and a precious library. It is surrounded by a Medieval moat with a Neo-Gothic bridge. Nearby the castle is Poland’s largest arboretum with a collection of some 3000 species and varieties of trees and shrubs. Rogalin – an impressive turn-of-the-18th-century palace of the Raczynski family. This late Baroque/Classicist complex has been turned into a museum featuring a wide array of historical interiors, furniture as well as works of art and craft. A painting gallery. The park features several hundred oak trees, including three famous ones named after Lech, Czech and Rus, the three forebear Slav brothers.

The Piastowski Route (szlak piastowski) ( 6 hours)
The Piast Dynasty Museum in Lednica – its small heritage park features wooden village buildings (a windmill, farm houses, a granary and a fisherman’s hut) Ostrow Lednicki – a major seat of the Polanie state between 9th and early 11th centuries The Wielkopolska Ethnographic Park – a heritage park featuring a Wielkopolska village of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Gniezno – Poland’s first capital city, the cradle of the Polish state. Its most precious building is the Cathedral. Gothic in its present form, the Cathedral dates back to the late 14th century. It features some valuable items such as the famous 12th-century bronze Gniezno doors and a 17th century sarcophagus with St. Albert relics.

HISTORICAL STEAM-ENGINES AND MORE

The engine-house in Wolsztyn - is the only and probably the last place where steam locomotives are still in use. There are still over 20 of them here with the oldest one from the early 20th century. Everyone can take a special route ride. Once a year ‘Locomotive Parade’ is held here, attracting old railways’ fans from the country and from abroad. The museum has functioned since 1907. You will also visit the Museum of Robert Koch in Wolsztyn – a man who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1905 for research on tuberculosis. It was here in Wolsztyn, that he carried out the epoch-making researches which placed him at one step in the front rank of scientific workers. Wielkopolskie Fire-Fighting Museum in Rakoniewice - enriched with exhibits related mainly to fire-brigade’s work. The museum is located in the ex-evangelical church from 1662. National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa - The place where you will be shown how local farmers cultivated typical crops of the region – cereal, potatoes, and also other plants. It is also known for the largest collection of farm machines. The visit may be a great event as you will learn how bread used to be baked, butter churned and mead prepared.

Method of making a reservation
In order to request for an individual excursion please fill out the
attached blank form and e-mail it to the address: annamichalska@olimp.poznan.pl by 31.08.2011
A person making a reservation (ordering) accepts responsibility for incurring payment
of the full excursion amount due for each person included in the reservation/confirmation.
They are also responsible for informing the remaining persons about all the details of the tourist event.
Any changes and cancellations of the reservations should be submitted in writing (e-mail) by 31.08.2011.
